Rimmel Lasting Finish

I don't really get why blushes are often split into separate colours these days… I mean it's understandable if the colours are large enough to be used for different things like contouring or adding bronze tones to the cheeks but when they're small stripes of similar colour like this it doesn’t make much sense to me! That being said I still like the finish this gives - very natural with just a teensy hint of shimmer

The powder is actually quite loosely packed so you only need to dab a brush against this gently to get a lot of product which isn't necessarily a bad thing but I find this to be a bit messy cos it's almost impossible to stop the powder ending up everywhere and I'm a bit of a neat freak so I don't even like it when I get spackles of blush around the plastic palette!
The shade I've gone for is Winter Glow which is pretty much exactly how I'd describe the look this gives. I could almost see this replacing my MUA (shade 1) blush as a subtle, natural, easy-to-apply-go-to-blush for every day use. Almost but not quite cos my MUA one costs £1 whereas this costs around £6.49 :)

Rimmel Mono Eyeshadows

When I'm looking for new makeup I'll generally veer towards the Rimmel counter for everything but eyeshadows. I reckon most of their range - from foundation and mascara to lipstick and powder - is fantastic but the eyeshadows have always left me disappointed. They just seem a bit below average in so many ways; not quite pigmented, smooth, or long-lasting enough and the colours aren't even particularly eye-catching when they're still in the packaging, which is generally when they look their best!

Punchy Taupe, Royal Violet and Jade Flirt

When the new Glam Eyes mono shades were released I had a quick glance at the colours available but had no intentions of actually buying any… well not until I saw them on sale in TJ Hughes for £1.49 each! At that kind of price I had to pick up a few to give them a try

Firstly I have to say that these are still not gonna make it onto my favourite eyeshadow list (yep, I do have such a list, albeit a mental one. A clear indicator that I don't have enough hobbies methinks) but they're definitely much better than I had anticipated

The colours are vibrant and fairly pigmented so it means I'm not having to pack on more n more eyeshadow to get a decent level of colour. Also, the texture is pretty nice because the powder isn't too tightly packed so I don't have to dig my brush in or keep going back to the pan again and again to get a decent amount of colour

It's also fairly long-lasting; I've even worn it to work without a primer and it still looked pretty fresh at the end of the day. Overall I'd say they're nothing to write home about but still handy if you fancy a change so they'd get a very average 6/10 from me :)

Fab Face Oil

Decleor is one of those brands I've wanted to try for ages but it's completely out of my price range and I've never really known what to start with; seems kinda silly to just use a cleanser or moisturiser when I couldn't afford to splash out on the whole range. So I figured I'd have a look online to see which products were really highly recommended and bought a few that I could just add to my current skin care routine in the hope that it'd give me an idea how well the products work

I wanted to mention the Aromessence Neroli because it's one of those products that seems to have made a genuine difference to my skin. I havent tried many face oils before because it always seemed a bit odd to be putting oil on my skin… I know the companies claim that they wont make skin more oily I cant help being a tad wary! I've been using this every night before bed under my moisturiser and so far my skin not only feels smoother than normal but it's also more plumped and youthful looking. At 25 my skin doesn’t exactly look old or anything but when compared with my 16 year old sisters it's definitely not as bright n glowing as it could be

The smell is a bit off-putting because it's so strong but I guess that’s to be expected from an aromatherapy range. You only need a couple of drops to cover the whole face and neck area and most of the product is absorbed pretty much immediately… which kinda surprised me as I'd expected quite a lot of oily residue to just sit on top of my skin, leaving big stains on my pillow case too

When I get up each morning my skin looks more plump (in the good way, not like I've been eating lots of pies) and fresh. I just cleanse my face as usual and use my regular serum/moisturiser. My makeup goes on easily and is less likely to sink into my pores which is great in itself!
The bottle might be really small but I've been using this for weeks and still have loads left so a little goes a long way. As much as I like this oil I'm really not keen on the strong (albeit natural scent) so I'm not entirely convinced that I should get the whole range of goodies because I like products that are either perfume free or lightly scented cos I'm lazy at the best of times so definitely need products that I actually enjoy using to make me keep up with my routine :)

In a nutshell :

Pros :
Packaging is lovely - really simple and elegant
Feels really luxurious to apply
Absorbed easily and doesn’t leave a residue
Leaves skin smooth, soft and plump

Cons:
Smells really strong
Costs an arm and a leg
No pump so it's easy to pour too much

Cheap(er) MAC makeup

Good evening all! Hope you’re having a lovely week so far :)

I was having a little nosy on fragrancedirect.co.uk earlier today and noticed that they’ve started selling MAC goodies

Incredimazing mascara for £2.50

This was one of those impulse purchases that I’ve been trying to cut back on…

I’ve liked a few different makeup products from Primark so decided to give this a try cos I liked the look of the wand. It’s quite similar to L'Óreals Telescopic Explosion which is around £11 in Boots and Givenchys Phenomen`eyes mascara which is around £20 in House of Fraser. I’ve wanted to try each of these mascaras for a while but didn’t wanna spend the pennies as they seem a bit gimmicky, but with the Primark one only costing £2.50 I just had to try it out
So far I really really like it! The formula was usable from the very first day (I normally open a mascara, find it too wet, then leave it for a couple of weeks before trying it again) and it coats the lashes brilliantly. One thing I found awkward was the actual line of bristles on the wand – when I tried using them the ball was in the way so I’ve just been using the ball to do my whole lash line… and the best thing is that it gets all the ickle bottom lashes that I didn’t even realise I had!
The colour is properly dark and I haven’t had any problems with clumping or flaking so it’s definitely the best £2.50 I’ve spent in a while :)

Free Jemma Kidd lip glosses

Don’t you just love when magazines give away genuinely awesome freebies? I took a walk to the shop on my lunch hour today cos it was much too nice out to stay indoors and spotted Red magazine with… Get this!… Free Jemma Kidd lip glosses!!! There are 3 different shades and I’ll probably end up buying them all but today I only got my favourite which is a delicious nude shade called Petal (17) Considering these are normally £14 each it was nice to get the gloss and a mag for £3.80
Just about to get a nice cool shower before I call to Adryens and I think I’ll debut my new gloss :) Hmmm…Is it sad that I’m gonna do my makeup even though we’ll just be lying around watching episodes of QI and Dexter?
