My top 5 drugstore/high-end foundations

Happy Friday everyone!! Hope your weekend has gotten off to a fantastic start. Mine has been lovely; did a little after work shopping and picked up new shoes then went to the cinema to see Unstoppable which I really enjoyed

Over the last few days I’ve started using Rimmels Perfect Match foundation and so far I absolutely love it...

Which got me thinking about all my favourite foundations - there’s a surprisingly long list! - so I’ve included my top 10 (5 drugstore and 5 high-end) below

Max Factor Second Skin
Revlon Colorstay
Rimmel Lasting Finish
Maybelline Superstay 24hr
Bourjois Healthy Mix
Chanel Pro Lumiere
Estee Lauder Double Wear
Lancome Teint Idole Ultra
MAC Mineralize Satinfinish
Christian Dior Nude

Do you have any favourites that you'd hate to live without? :)

Tip of the day: Make a hair mask for fine, frizzy hair by whisking an egg with 200g of natural yoghurt. Massage into the scalp, leave for 2-3 mins and rinse thoroughly ♥

  1. Is it just me, or does anyone else notice all of the high-end foundations have like frosted or glass bottles? compared to drugstore foundations which are usually plastic.
first thing i noticed when I looked at those picture (:

Joy, how do you get such good lighting at night? I assume you took these at night?

I am planning to try Rimmel's Perfect Match so once again, I hope you'll write a full review on it :)

  11. I LOVE Revlon's Colorstay foundation, it works just as great as MAC's fluid foundation.

I'm curious: do you use all of these foundations at the moment? Do you switch from day to day?

  25. Thank you so much for your comment on my brand new blog, I'm glad you liked my Eyeko post and I hope you enjoy the fat balm and liner. I love the line and shine pencils too, especially the black and grey sparkle one, I use it every day! I've never really got on with liquid foundation, I always wear a really heavy base and use a powder foundation. When I had a little more money my favourite was Estee Lauder, but I also like The Body Shop All in One Base and Barbara Daly too.

  37. Thanks for all your lovely comments!!

Leah lighting is the biggest problem I’ve come across since I started blogging! It’s dark when I leave for work in the mornings and dark when I’m heading home so I’ve found the only thing that works is taking my pics in the kitchen (the lights are the brightest ones in the house) against a dark backgraound. Makes swatches a complete nightmare cos I really need natural light to make them look accurate! :)

Toesthattwinkle! My fav drugstore depends on how my skin is behaving; at the moment I’m loving Rimmels Lasting Finish so if you get a chance to try this I really recommend it!

Noir I actually spent AGES trying to decide whether to include Rimmels Lasting Finish or Stay Matte cos I adore them both! My opinion on the perfect match has changed slightly so I’m giving it a chance to impress me more before I decide how I feel about it! ♥

Marie a la Mode I change my foundation all the time depending on my skin! It’s really dry at the min so I’ve been wearing Healthy Mix by Bourjois. I’ll vary what I use; sometimes I want light coverage, sometimes I need something to help hide my oily t-zone etc… Always nice to have a selection methinks :)

Jennifer I’m the palest caucasion ever but a few of my asian friends swear by Max Factor and MAC foundations. Heard great things about the Benefit powder but it’s so expensive I cant bring myself to splash out on it!

Stavroula I’m the same because I’m ALWAYS on the lookout for the perfect foundation so I cant help but pick up new ones every time I see something new

SiSi Revlon do 2 different versions of the Colorstay foundation; one for combination/oily skin and one for normal/dry skin. I have them both because my skin is a nightmare and changes all the time so I really recommend the Colorstay for combination/oily skin… works wonders for me :) (oh and let me know what you think if you decide to try it!)

Audrey the Pro Lumiere smells absolutely revolting but it’s worth it cos the coverage is lovely; really dewy and natural looking. The texture is perfect because its creamy and seriously easy to blend but doesn’t make me look too “plastic” or “made up.” I’ll do a proper review on it asap

Kaitlyn that’s awesome!! Cant believe you haven’t seen it yet… Honestly if I were you I’d probably have been at the cinema on the opening night. I’m kinda sad like that
