17 Blemish Balm in Light
Good morning all, hope you've had a lovely start to the week! I've had a ridiculously busy few months and it's sooo good to be back. I could ramble on about how I have moved house (woo!) been burgled (booooo) and applied for an awesome part time job that I can do outside the hours of my 9-5 (*fingers crossed*) but this isn't really the place for all that nonsense so I figured I'd get right to the important stuff and talk about an amazing BB cream that I've been using for a few weeks
As someone with acne prone skin the whole idea of a nourishing, protecting skin care product that works like makeup seemed to good to be true and after trying half a dozen or so I'd given up on BB creams because they were all rubbish when it came to actual coverage
Of course I'm pretty opened minded, especially when there's a good bargain to be had, so when Boots had this on sale with a free gift I couldn’t really say no
If I had to come up with a list of negatives about this I'd manage precisely one thing and that’s the range of shades available as there are only 3; light, medium and dark. Thankfully the light one is perfect for me but I reckon there are plenty of people who would struggle to find a shade to suit their skin tone. The texture isn't like that of any other BB cream I've tried, it's quite thick so feels like an actual foundation and blends quickly and easily
The finish is glowy not greasy so I can wear it with or without a dusting of powder and it looks good either way. Though it'll start to fade after 6 hours or so without a primer and powder finish, not a big deal for me cos I never really wear my makeup for more than 10 or 12 hours so I'm happy to wear a decent primer and powder to ensure the coverage is good all day
I've noticed a slight reduction in the number and severity of breakouts around my chin. Oh and did I mention the SPF 25? Not a bad little bonus for if you're trying to keep the sun damage to a minimum. And all for the bargain price of £6.99 :)
If you've come across any BB creams that do what they say on the tin feel free to mention them below... I'm planning a little shopping trip this weekend and will add them to the list!

'ello stranger! Nice to have you back!
Wowsers, sounds like you've been busy.
That's really horrible about the burglary... hope all is OK.
I haven't gotten around to trying any BB cream - too many bottles and jars of stuff around my bedroom to get thru'! Boots do seem to being doing some really good lines tho' and a freebie gift is always a bonus!
Z xx
PS Good luck for the job!
Hey, I'm new to your site but love what you're about!
I've tried a couple of the BB creams, the first I tried was the Olay and Max Factor one when my Bobbi Brown tinted moisturiser ran out. I like both Olay and Max Factor so i thought it was a good move picking their joint product.
After using it though I was really disappointed and discouraged from trying any other BB creams. The coverage was rubbish, it was greasy and I didn't notice any improvement in my skin.
I recently had a free sample of the new Rimmel BB cream in a magazine so I obviously tried it, even if I was never going to buy one again. I actually love it, it's really highlighting and smooth to apply. I think my skin is looking better and it's definitely more radiant. I would be interested to buy this product to review it properly, so it's not a hundred percent recommendation but definitely one to try . . .
Penny thanks much, so good to be back. Good to see things havent changed too much round here :) Burglary was a nightmare but thankfully nothing sentimental was taken so not the end of the world!
the sorting house, I had my eye on the same one cos I generally love any Olay products, lad I didnt buy it now! They're doing 3 for 2 on rimmel goodies at the min so I think I'll have to give the BB cream a try xx
